Having "apparently" purchased a Toyota Prius "lemon" from another dealer in another state my wife has, due to our relocation, recently been forced to rely on the maintenance service of American Toyota. In less than 2 years and only about 16,000 miles of additional travel over $4,000 of service (over and above that performed at no charge due to Toyota recalls) has been "strongly" recommended and was reluctantly performed. Having reluctantly agreed to over $2,100 of service on her most recent trip to the dealer she was informed, with no shame whatsoever, that the cost would be $2,955.67 along with the denial that any lower quote had been given.
Ultimately the car was returned with the cost remaining as originally proposed but I wouldn't recommend the aggravation to anyone.
