Review 11/22/2010

The company was hired to widen the driveway entrance on the street and to add stone siding to a portion of the front of our house. The workers and owner trampled on our plants while they were doing the work. Not bushes, but plants that could have been worked around. They broke sprinklers which they were told about and were out in the open. They created a mess in the middle and gutters of the street with their sand mixture, they created a mess on our porch, and drive way, all of which were not cleaned up satisfactorily at the completion of their work. On the lawn area and plant bedding's mortar was left to harden. Although the work of adding the stone was acceptable, the mess they created was unacceptable and I would not recommend this company to anyway who does not have the time to sit and watch everything that they do. For this reason I have had to give the company a three star rating. 12/07/2010 After the rain the rock siding was examined and really not too much of a surprise I discovered that there were more places that showed that there was a lot more places were grout was missing. From a distance the siding looks beautiful, perfect, it's upon close inspection that one sees missing grout, mess splattered onto the house paint. 12/09/2010 Today my wife went out to get into a car parked in the street. She normally does not go to the street so this was the first time she saw the driveway close up. When the driveway was widened the cement that was replaced was replaced with a circular design, this design is not on the original part of the driveway. Why on earth would the owner/workers add a design to the drive way when the original part of the driveway did not have this design. The more I inspect the work, the more dissatisfied I am with this $5000.00 job. 12/16/2010 Today I realized after going online to find stone siding. When I first spoke to the owner of Azteca Construction I showed him the color of stone siding that I wanted. When the stone was bought it was not the color that I had showed him. He told me that all of the stone comes in this brown color and that after it is installed a 'mist' is applied to get the desired color with a sprayer, in our case it was supposed to be a blue gray. At the completion of the stone installation, Mr. Julian Hernandez, owner asked me and my wife to look at some colors on stones that he had created. None of them were what we wanted but my wife did pick out a color. Mr Hernandez then went to the installed stone and sprayed a dark color on a rag and preceded to rub the dark color on the stone. This is how he said that it is done. It looked terrible and at that point my wife and I both came to the conclusion that he had never done this 'misting' as he called it, before. I went online to look at stone sidings at I found that stone comes in different colors and is manufactured by different companies. I wish I had the money to sue Mr. Hernandez as he lied about the stone only in brown. I wish I could rate this company as a minus 5.
