Review 3/23/2009

I had an appointment on Feb. 24, 2009 at 2:00pm for a consultation. I had filled out all the insurance information and waited 15-20 minutes. Prior to my appointment I had told them that my current dentist had all the x-rays on file and they said that they were going to request for them.
Dina Lew office claimed that those were too old and could not use them, but failed to tell me that my insurance did not cover them until after they had took x-rays in their office in which resulted in a charge of $114.00 on my part. The consultation fee was not covered at all by my insurance, but they failed to tell me until afterward resulting in a $175.00 charge on my part. My dentist visit was total $289.00 all paid by me. I was really confused as why my insurance did not cover anything at all. Once I got home, I had called my insurance (Aetna) they told me that the dentist office that I had visit (Dina Lew DDS MD) was out of network and the insurance did not cover any part of it.
During my visit to Dina Lew office, at no point of my visit did they tell me that I was out of network and my insurance did not cover anything at all and I had to pay everything out of my own pocket. The only way that I figured out was by calling the insurance company. I felt that I was NOT told prior to services that I was out of network, they SHOULD advise all patient of the cost and ask them if they would still like to continue with the services before any services are done.
