Presto Logistics seriously unethical business practices
This has taken me awhile to write because the experience was SO awful in every way that I just didn't want to think about it anymore... I have a lot to say and can't put it all here, but am happy to answer questions. I think customers should know how this
is going to work out for them. Presto was NOT the cheapest quote I got, but I really fell for the trustworthiness of the salesperson. They are good...and they will lie outright to you and once you do have problems will talk down to you and over you. I was
told very specifically I should take some furniture (spec a large cabinet) because I could pack INSIDE of it. I asked VERY specific questions about this and confirmed it on email even. I spent A LOT of time carefully packing according to the specifications
I was given. When the movers came to pick up, they were already frustrated and we argued over the fact that what I packed in the furniture was not heavy...the office and my salesperson offered me a "discount" on their packing services and materials -specifically
why I asked all the questions I did...I very clearly told him this was the exact sort of thing I did NOT want to encounter and why I was swayed by the sales talk. It was an awful experience with the movers until we started communicating and I came to understand
it wasn't about the weight....the problem was that anything had been packed inside AT ALL. I called Ryan (salesperson) back about this and spoke with his boss too. Both of them with no interest in making this right, but so sure that now that half my things
were out on the street ...I wouldn't let them go. Ryan asked me "well, what are you going to do now ...your things are already outside...UNBELIEVABLE. It was exhausting and upsetting. I called Ryan at the office a few days later and said I really just expected
the delivery to play out in a different way. It didn't. The drivers called to say they were close by and then within a few minutes...they couldn't get to me and would have to "shuttle". 1/2 block from me is construction with huge equipment so I just walked
over and asked them if there was a problem with moving a tractor trailer through...NO. I also looked on google maps and saw the route they should have taken...the highway until they were around the corner....instead they got off somewhere in mid-city and were
now having to navigate through town. I don't know what the "logistics" part stands for , but in my job I map out my route prior to a job. They have an office for this...I could see it clearly on google maps...why couldn't they. My things were damaged and boxes
looked like they had been through a crusher...with things literally dragging outside of them ( have pictures of this...it's almost comical how absurdly torn up these things were. Of course that meant a lot of broken/crushed and missing things. There is no
furniture that wasn't completely scratched and dinged. The movers seemed surprised even by the condition of the boxes and cabinets. My file cabinets were so damaged I've had to pay someone to pry them open...now useless. I have a very large (and heavy) armoir
/cabinet. I had been sold on bringing it by the salesperson and promised everything would go where I wanted it on delivery. Well the large cabinet that was to go upstairs...they couldn't do it. I realized it was going to even be dangerous to them as the guys
just didn't seem strong enough or have the tools that would have helped them. I know it can be done because I just hired two guys that deliver furniture and paid them 250 to do it. I asked presto to split this cost with me....and following the move, I wrote
to Abe (the owner) and did not even get a response. Honestly, I don't think it is the labor...these guys are just trying to work, but the management and sales are beyond dishonest and just slimy with their "business" practices. At this point, I will NEVER
move all my things again and I will not trust another company. I am sure there are some honest ones out there, but with these deliberately deceptive practices, how would you know? If I were in this industry, using honest practices with my customers I would
look for some sort of regulation that protected consumers from these practices. It is an awful experience to be stuck with all of your things on a truck and be held hostage to unfair demands and extortion. I just feel a little more disappointed in society
when I run across people like this…that’s really a shame.
