I've had some issues with this dental service provider out here in Covina California. I'd like to share my experience in the hopes that others will heed my warnings about this institution. The dentists there are nice, they're gentile, and the facility they have there is nice. That's about as far as I can go with nice things to say about their offices.
The staff is unprofessional. They have a 1pm-2pm lunch break. I arrived for a 2pm appt and waited and watched as the staff trickled in 15-20minutes after 2pm. I was the first and only person in the waiting room for the 2pm appt slot and waited until 220 to be seated. It took an hour for my eval and then had to wait another hour for the lady at the front desk to get around to my treatment plan.
When issues over cost of crowns came up, I asked for the crowns my insurance company covered. I was told I could not have these crowns, that the dentist considers them to be not good enough and will only provide 1 type of crown. I'm 23, I don't make much money, and my 6000 dollar dental bill has placed a great burden on my shoulders. One that i accept is greatly my fault due to a life of poor habits. But as I'm trying to face my fears of dentists and fix life long problems, I'm being met with the option of $445 crowns when other more affordable options are available through my insurance. On top of that, after requesting a co-pay print out from my insurance, i was given a document that stated that my co-pay for these type of crowns should be $195, not the $445 I'm being quoted. After talking with the dental offices front desk, they informed me that my dad had similar work done recently (something i didn't know and something he didn't want m to know) and that they charged him $334 for the work(another piece of information I didn't know and that he didn't want me knowing). Please understand he is a private person and we don't discuss these type of things. Their informing me of his work violated his dr patient rights. They also began to tell me to ask my insurance the same question so they could call and ask for me. At this time I asked to speak with management.
I raised the issue that they were shrugging me off, telling me to ask someone else to ask the same questions that i'm concerned about. This is my mouth and my money. I raised the issue that they refused to give me an affordable option, just to quote me $250 over what my insurance says my co-pay should be on the item. I was once again told that if i did not like their fee's that I should talk to my insurance.
This office isn't interested in the well being and the needs/wants/desires of their patients. This dental office has expanded over the years, has gotten new equipment, and is currently continuing to renovate their offices. All of this is expensive for them and they're clearly trying to pass that cost onto their patients who unfortunately often do not know better. I was lucky and looked into this before I paid out thousands more than I should have. I'm certain others have paid much more than they should have and i'm positive they will continue to cheat people out of their hard earned money. My only hope is that this review helps you know the type of dental office this is. Understand, this office is purely focused on their profits and their books, not on what their patients want and need.
