I had moved so I was looking for a new dentist. When I called to make my appointment the woman on the other end was extremely nice and helpful. I went into one of the Western Dentals located in Anaheim, CA. I went in for my 6 month cleaning/check up. My appointments was for 3:30 I didn’t get taken to the back until 5:45 only to wait some more (trust me I would have left but I did not drive myself). First off, the x-ray tech gave me a piece of paper that was asking me to sign my rights away if “something happened” she told me I didn’t have to sign it and to be sure to read carefully. Thank God for some honest people. I finally get to a room only to wait about another 30 min. Finally the dentist comes in; he tells me I have 3 cavities. WHAT? I have never had cavities and secondly it had only been 6 months since my last cleaning. How could I get so many?? Next thing I know the Billing lady comes in and ask me to sign up for a payment plan or if I had a credit card I could pay in full now. HOLD ON I have never been in the middle of an appointment and had someone come in and ask how we were gonna handle payment. I have great dental coverage and have never paid out of pocket for anything. They were telling my insurance did not cover my fillings. As I waited in the back office, the staff was completely unprofessional and unorganized. I was moved into 3 different rooms during my visit. While they set up for my cleaning- I sat there and listened to them talk about how much they were gonna party and the new cell phone one of the techs had. Um are we on brake here? Obliviously, by this time I had had it and told them that I did not want the fillings and just to finish up the cleaning so I could go. I had been told I had 3 cavities by WESTERN DENTAL so 2 weeks later I called my old dentists (which is now far away) to have her do my fillings. I get into her office had New X-ray’s done. She tells me there are NO CAVITITES! She also asked if I was sure they had performed a cleaning because there was still plaque build up. So pretty Much, Western Dental was trying to drill holes in my perfectly GOOD teeth so they could charge me and my insurance. UNBELIVEABLE! Not to mention Western Dental waited to bill almost 3 months after my 2009 year plan had ended. This affected my 2010 year plan coverage with MetLife because now that cleaning that was performed last June 2009 by Western dental is now being credited to my 2010 MetLife insurance account. So yes I had to pay WESTERN DENTAL out of pocket for the cleaning. The Best part –They couldn’t even get the correct spelling of my name on the invoice!!
